Athletes Lose Big In Their Divorces

Lifestyles of the rich and famous aren’t always so glamorous. It turns out there’s a lot of truth to the saying, “more money, more problems.” Here are a few stories of players who scored big in the game, but lost big at home.

San Antonio Spurs star Tim Duncan is the middle of a nasty divorce battle with Amy Duncan, his wife of twelve years. Thirty-seven-year- old Tim reportedly hired a private investigator to look into Amy’s behavior, indicating he suspected his former college sweetheart of cheating. Amy initiated the divorce proceedings in March, but it is unclear if she was caught cheating. Hopefully for him, there was a prenuptial agreement.

Former NFL star, Chad “OchoCinco” Johnson’s marriage to reality star Evelyn Lozada ended in spectacular fashion. Married on July 4, 2012, Chad was arrested weeks after the wedding. He was accused of domestic battery for head-butting his new wife. Three days later, she filed for divorce.

San Antonio Spurs star, Tony Parker’s marriage to actress Eva Longoria, was doomed when he was caught in an affair with teammate Brent Barry’s wife, Erin Barry. Apparently the affair started just five months after their wedding in 2007. In 2010, Eva filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences and asked for spousal support.

Tiger Woods’s almost $100 million divorce settlement from Elin Nordegren came about in August 2010 as a result of Tiger sleeping with nightclub manager, Rachel Uchitel. Over the next few months it was revealed that Tiger slept with as many as 120 different women ranging from porn stars to waitresses. Tiger apparently didn’t discriminate.

Michael Jordan’s 2006 divorce from wife Juanita Vanoy wasn’t as ugly as the other athletes. The NBA star and his longtime wife’s final divorce papers stated that the couple had settled the situation “amicably,” without the public disputes common in celebrity divorces. However Juanita did receive a $168 million payout – making the couple’s separation the most costly celebrity divorce settlement in history at that time.
