Keeping the Spark in Your Relationship

Do you ever wish your significant other would still bring you flowers, call just to say “I love you”, or send a thoughtful text message during the day? I for one am a huge fan of keeping romance alive in a relationship.

When I get a text in the middle of the day that says “hi, thinking of you, I love you” it puts a smile on my face without a doubt.

Some of my friends argue that romance is overrated but my point of view is that romance differentiates a relationship from a friendship.

A few months ago, my boyfriend and I hadn’t seen each other for over a week due to our schedules and at 6:00 a.m. on a Monday morning my doorbell rang and it was him with a bouquet of flowers to let me know he missed me. Needless to say, that put a huge smile on my face.

So if you’re looking to keep the spark in your relationship, remember little things can go a long way in a relationship. For example: remembering to compliment your special someone when they look especially nice, or just got their hair done.

Some of my favorite text messages that I have received in the past few months are:

  • “I love you, sleep tight, see you tomorrow”;
  • “Can I buy you dinner tonight?”;
  • “I can’t wait to spend the weekend with you”;
  • “You make me smile”;
  • “Wish you were here”

These are just a few examples of small things that keep the spark going for me.
